Rev. Fr. Myles Gaffney

Biography


Fr. Myles Gaffney was born in 1957 in Calgary. He studied philosophy and theology at Mt. Angel Seminary in Oregon, and was ordained to the priesthood in 1991. He served as associate pastor at Sacred Heart Parish in Calgary, then as pastor at St. Joseph Parish in Vauxhall, and after this as pastor at St. James Parish in Calgary. From 1998 – 2016 he was the Director of Vocations for the diocese of Calgary, and for the first ten years of this assignment served also as chaplain at Mount Royal College. From 2013 – 2016 he was the Director of Formation for the Permanent Diaconate program. On the 25th anniversary of his priestly ordination Fr. Gaffney spent a sabbatical year at Mt. Angel Abbey studying the life of St. Kateri Tekakwitha. He was appointed to the formation staff and faculty at St. Joseph Seminary in the summer of 2017.
