Biography

Fr. Brian was born in 1932 in Toronto where he attended St. Michael’s High School, which was founded by the Congregation of St. Basil and staffed for the most part by members of that community. On graduating from high school in 1951 he joined the Basilian Fathers. He attended the University of Toronto majored in philosophy, received a BA in 1956 and MA in 1961. He was ordained to the priesthood in 1961. He went for further studies at Marquette University, earned a PhD in 1970 with a thesis in the area of the Philosophy of Science. He taught high school in Toronto and Saskatoon and went on to teach Christian Philosophy at the University of St. Thomas in Houston and, for 23 years, at St Joseph’s College in Edmonton. On retiring he accepted an appointment as pastor in Hinton AB where he remained for 17 years.  He then accepted an appointment to the Formation Team at St. Joseph’s Seminary in Edmonton in the summer of 2015.
